Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable Solar Panel Installer to join our team in Chennai. The candidate will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining solar PV systems (rooftop, ground‑mount etc.), ensuring quality workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction. (Beta Job Posting)
Key Responsibilities
- Assess installation sites: check roof structure, load‐bearing capacity, shading, orientation, and tilt.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, system layouts, and wiring diagrams to determine best placement and configuration.
- Install solar panels, mounting structures, rails/support frames, inverters, batteries (if applicable), wiring, junction boxes, and associated electrical connections.
- Ensure proper earthing/grounding, safety wiring, and protection from electrical hazards.
- Perform site leveling or structural adjustments as needed for secure installation.
- Test, commission, and hand over PV systems: check voltage/current output, perform performance tests, inspect for leaks or loose fittings.
- Conduct maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs (panels, inverters, wiring), as needed.
- Maintain proper documentation: installation logs, commissioning reports, warranty & quality check sheets.
- Follow safety protocols: use personal protective equipment (PPE), work at heights safely, secure tools and materials.
- Coordinate with customers, team members, and other trades (roofing, electrical, civil).
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum educational requirement: 10th standard pass, ITI or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent trade preferred. (Skillworld)
- Prior experience in electrical work, construction, or PV installations helpful; freshers may be considered if willing to learn. (Rana Gulf Renewable Energy)
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, safety practices, tools such as multimeter, drills, etc.
- Physically fit: able to carry panels and equipment, work on rooftops, climb ladders, and endure Chennai’s weather (sun, heat, occasional rain).
- Good problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, ability to work accurately with wiring and alignment.
- Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions. Good communication skills in Tamil and/or English.
Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have
- Certifications related to solar PV installation or renewable energy.
- Experience with inverter and battery installation (off-grid or hybrid systems).
- Familiarity with relevant standards/regulations (like those under NSDC, ESSCI, or local/state codes).
- Experience using tools/software for layout design.
Working Conditions
- Work mostly in the field: rooftops, open structures, sometimes ground mounts.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions: heat, sun, rain, dust.
- Must follow safety procedures strictly, including working at heights, using safety harnesses.
- Will involve travel around Chennai and possibly nearby suburban or rural areas.
