Commercial Electrician – Jakarta, Indonesia

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in commercial buildings and facilities around Jakarta. The role involves working on medium to large scale projects such as offices, retail spaces, hotels, malls, or government buildings. Safety, code compliance, and reliability are paramount. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation of electrical systems: wiring, conduits, switchboards/panels, lighting fixtures, power outlets, emergency lighting, backup power systems.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair existing electrical installations to ensure safety, efficiency, and continuity of service.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and architectural plans to determine electrical layouts and requirements.
  • Diagnose electrical malfunctions; use appropriate tools to test, isolate, and fix faults.
  • Follow Indonesia’s electrical safety standards, local building codes, and regulations (e.g. SNI or other relevant standards).
  • Collaborate with contractors, site managers, and other trades (plumbing, HVAC, structural) to coordinate installations and avoid conflicts.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to avoid downtime and potential hazards.
  • Ensure all electrical work is carried out with high safety standards: use of PPE, safe handling of tools and materials, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, etc.
  • Maintain documentation: job reports, maintenance logs, as‑built drawings updates.
  • Participate in project planning, including helping estimate materials, labor, schedule.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Vocational or Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or relevant electrical trade certification.
  • Several years (e.g. 3‑5 years or more) experience working as an electrician in commercial / large building environment.
  • Solid knowledge of local electrical codes/regulations (e.g. Indonesian National Standards / SNI) and safety practices.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.
  • Proficient with electrical tools and test equipment (multimeter, insulation tester, voltage detector, etc.).
  • Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Physically fit: able to work in heights, confined spaces; lift / carry moderate loads; climb ladders; work in varying weather/conditions.
  • Good communication skills; ability to coordinate with team, report clearly, possibly some English depending on employer.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, possibly including overtime or emergency repairs.

Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have

  • License or certification recognized in Indonesia or international certification.
  • Experience with high voltage / medium voltage systems.
  • Experience with building automation, smart lighting, or renewable energy / solar installations.
  • Familiarity with tools / software for estimating, CAD, or project management.

Working Conditions

  • Project sites around Jakarta area; some travel between sites may be required.
  • Exposure to construction environment: noise, dust, sometimes heat or humidity.
  • Must adhere to strict safety protocols.
